Meet the Artist

Kirstie Louise Rowe

Being an energetic child, covered in mud or stuck up a tree, one of the only places I could be found to be calm would be at the table with pencil or brush in hand.  Early memories include drawing sketches out of a huge “Birds of the World” book with my parents or the excitement of my Dad letting my sister and I loose with crayons on an old roll of wallpaper!

Throughout school I was the kid that drew cartoon puppies, sonic the hedgehog and my famous T-Rex for friends, even, at one point having a semi-successful bookmark making business!

Secondary school, college and university all involved elements of graphics, design and art, ultimately leading to a Post Graduate Certificate in Education allowing me to teach my subject in schools.

My love for wild places, new spaces and all things outdoor related naturally grew alongside my passion to be creative.

Home is in a village perched half way up a little Welsh hillside.  I share this little haven with my husband and our 5 chickens.  When not creating I work as an outdoor instructor in the beautiful Welsh mountains, rivers and coastal areas as well as being a professional sailor.

These adventures often take me over vast oceans to far flung corners of the world, immerse me in vibrant cultures and get me up close to some incredible wildlife.  Remote mountainsides, deserts or lush rain-forests, its all a huge attack on the senses and it keeps me fuelled and inspired to share and create these sights and experiences.

I hope you enjoy my artwork, its as varied as the life I live, it changes and grows.  Just like that restless child no two pieces are the same and one may be a completely different style to the next.
